Massive fire breaks out at warehouse near Motphran, ₹70 Lakh losses estimated

Shillong, Feb 10: A massive fire broke out at Joavon Towers in Shillong on Monday morning at 11:15 AM, engulfing a warehouse owned by Anuj Bawri near Baby Land School in Motphran.

The building, owned by Jone Manners and the flames quickly consumed everything inside.

It was informed that the warehouse stored electronic and computer equipment, and the estimated loss is around ₹70 lakh.

However the cause of the incident is not certain yet but however suspected to have been triggered by an electrical fault.

The fire brigade rushed to the scene and worked swiftly to contain the blaze. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, the entire stock had already been destroyed.

Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
