Shillong, July 7: At least two people were killed and four others injured during a shootout between two armed groups in Manipur’s Bishnupur-Churachandpur border areas on Friday, officials said.
The shootout incident took place in the wee hours on Friday near the Phougakchao Ikhai village.
Meanwhile, the injured people have been taken to the Churachandpur hospital.
Para-military and Manipur armed police personnel have immediately rushed to the area and launched a search operation to nab the armed cadres.
This shootout incident comes a day after a woman was shot dead outside a school by unidentified gunmen in Imphal West district.
Officials said that the woman was shot when she came to Sishu Niketan School at Mayaikoibi to drop her child.
According to the eyewitness, the armed miscreants opened fire on the woman after her child entered in to the school complex.
