Shillong, Nov 13: A 49-year-old man was found dead at Nohwet village under Pynursla police station in East Khasi Hills district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as- Tapan Dey, a resident of Bishnu path in Ganeshnagar area of Kamrup Metro, Assam.
According to reports, the body was spotted by some women of the village went they went to collect firewood in the jungle.
“All his possessions were found inside a Mahendra pickup vehicle. The body was found lying on the ground in a sloped area with a synthetic rope tied on a branch of a tree at one end while the other end was on the neck of the deceased,” said an eye witness.
Tapan Dey had come to deliver a generator to a mobile tower construction team.
It has been suspected that he had committed suicide.
“We can confirm it after the post-mortem report. The body was sent to Civil Hospital in Shillong for post-mortem,” said police official
