Shillong, March 23: In a tragic incident near Kynroh Maram before Mawryngkneng, a series of vehicular mishaps resulted in the untimely demise of a 60-year-old man on Saturday night.

East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem informed that a truck bearing registration number ML10 D 0678, driven by Benjamin Ryntathiang, was enroute from Jaintia Hills to Shillong. Upon reaching a sharp curve in the midst of a traffic jam, the truck moved to the wrong side of the road and collided with an unidentified vehicle, causing minor damage. The unidentified truck fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Following the collision, the truck (ML10 D 0678) became stuck in the middle of the road. Deilangshirup Law, a 60-year-old resident of Lower Mawprem, Shillong, alighted from the vehicle to inspect the damage. While he was examining the underside of the truck by lying on the ground, another truck, BR05 D 1938, driven by Jewanmi Talang of Musiaw, West Jaintia Hills, approached from the opposite direction and accidentally ran over him. Deilangshirup Law succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The deceased’s body has been transported to the local Community Health Centre (CHC) for necessary legal procedures.
