SHILLONG, AUG 24: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday made a strong pitch for promoting indigenous textiles by wearing a Ryndia shirt to the Assembly’s autumn session.

Stating that he will wear Ryndia throughout the five-day session, Sangma said, “This shirt is made of Ryndia, and I urge everyone to promote our own textiles, weavers and farmers.”

He also proposed making traditional attire mandatory for one day during Assembly sessions.

“I have urged the Speaker that we should have one day where we make it mandatory for members to wear traditional dress. It could be any traditional dress, it could be any day, but it should be traditional. It will be beautiful and it is a way of promoting our identity and our culture,” the CM added.
