Guwahati, Sept 27: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said lookout notices have been issued against Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the death of singer Zubeen Garg.

Speaking to reporters, Sarma said summons have been served to Shyamkanu Mahanta and eight other Assamese nationals residing in Singapore, requiring them to appear at the CID office in Guwahati by October 6. “We have given them time till October 6. The summons was served through the Indian Embassy in Singapore. Lookout notices have already been issued against Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta through Interpol to prevent them from fleeing to any other country,” he said.

Sarma said the probe into Garg’s mysterious death in Singapore is progressing rapidly. “If you do not wish to speak before the CID, then go to court and place your version there. But do not try to test the sentiments of the people, who are deeply connected with Zubeen Garg,” he warned.

The chief minister added that if Mahanta and Sharma surrender to the CID and give their account, the matter will be handled lawfully. “Being the Chief Minister, I am strictly warning you to appear before the CID office in Guwahati on October 6. We need to know your side,” he said.

“As long as people are demanding justice for Zubeen Garg, I will not step back. I promise that Zubeen will get justice. Anyone linked to this incident will face the law,” Sarma asserted.
