SHILLONG, FEB 13: Bihar MLC and convener of Budget Publicity Campaign for North East, Devesh Kumar, emphasized the importance of local support for expanding rail connectivity in the three North East states including Meghalaya.

“Prime minister wants each and every state to be connected by the rail network, but this has to be done with the help of the local population,” Kumar said, highlighting Mizoram’s recent connection to the rail network as a “boon”.

Kumar added that only three states in the North East lack rail connectivity, and the government is “more than willing” to extend the network with local cooperation.

BJP national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi echoed this sentiment, stating, “The work has begun… we will ensure that is supplemented and we really hope all states are connected.”

Ilmi emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, saying, “We are completely dedicated and committed to it”.
