– Droupadi Murmu was born on 20 June, 1958.
– She was born to Biranchi Matawan Tudu who was a farmer and has two siblings.
– She was married to (L) Shyam Charan Murmu who was a banker; he expired in the year 2014
– Had two sons, whom she lost in 2009 and other in 2013 and a daughter Itishree Murmu who is currently working as a Banker.
– Age as of 2022, she is 64 years old
– She was brought up in Uparbeda village, Mayurbhanj Odisha.

Six Facts about our President

1. She started her career as a teacher and worked as a government clerk before joining the BJP in 1997.
2. Born to a tribal family, she was the first woman from her village to pursue her bachelor degree outside Bhubaneshwar.
3. She is the first tribal to become the country’s President.
4. She is the youngest to become the President at the age of 64 years.
5. Second women to be elected President after Pratibha Patil.
6. In 2007, she received the Nilkantha Award for the best MLA by Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Political Journey:

1997: Elected councillor of Rairangpur, Odisha and was elected Chairperson of Rairangpur in the same year
2000-2004: Elected Minister of BJP from the Rairangpur constituency.
2006-2009: She served as the District President of BJP in Mayurbhanj and State President of BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha.
2015-2021: Elected and served as the governor of Jharkhand.
2022: Elected the 15th President of India.
