Tura, Sept 08: The Tura campus of ICFAI University Meghalaya on Friday hosted its inaugural Alumni Meet 2023, aimed at rekindling connections and charting a course for alumni to play a pivotal role in societal transformation.
Under the theme of “Alumni Connect: Ignite the Flame”, the event saw an impressive turnout, with over a hundred alumni participating in person, while many others joined virtually. The alumni of the university, who attended the programme, represented many sectors such as government, defence, education, banking, agriculture, and some taking to entrepreneurship, highlighting the guidance shown by the university to them.
Dr. Alicia Gatphoh, the Vice Chancellor, highlighted the university’s commendable achievements. She underscored the importance of establishing a robust alumni network, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between the alumni and the institution. This, she explained, would facilitate the contribution of alumni wisdom towards fund-raising, career development, and mentorship, further enhancing the academic and professional excellence of the University, which in turn would support the current students with mentorship initiatives, scholarships, and career advancement services.
Dr. V S B Sangma, Advisor of The ICFAI University Meghalaya, lauded the organizing team for orchestrating an event that garnered an enthusiastic response from former students. She urged the alumni to collaborate and become beacons of inspiration for current students, urging them to proactively plan for their future endeavors.
Later, ICFAI Alumni Tura Unit convened an informal meeting and formed a Temporary Committee with some objectives drafted to form the body.
