HYC sends back over 70 illegal migrant workers from Umiam

Shillong, July 8: Over 70 illegal migrant workers were pushed back by activists of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Saturday after they were found working without any labour license.

HYC’s Umiam Circle president Shainstar Kharpan informed that these illegal workers were detected during checking conducted at Ladumsaw and Sumer area.

“We appeal to employers to ensure migrant workers obtain labour license and other necessary documents before engaging their services in the state,” he said.

He also informed that the Council has decided to intensify checking on trading licenses and labour licenses in the whole of the area under the Umiam Circle.
