Shillong, Nov 8: The Rajya Puraskar Rally was held on Wednesday at Shillong’s Raj Bhavan on the occasion of the 74th Foundation Day of the Bharat Scouts and Guides.
The Rajya Puraskar certificate awards were handed to 84 Scouts, 9 Rovers, 76 Guides and 9 Rangers by Phagu Chauhan, Governor of Meghalaya.
Other dignitaries who were present at the event were Meghalaya Chief Secretary, D P Wahlang, Secretary to the Governor of Meghalaya, Dr. B. D. R Tiwari and several others.
7 leaders including 5 male and 2 female were also felicitated for completing the Himalayan Wood badge course.
While addressing at the event, Chauhan praised and commended all the accomplished scouts and guides who have earned the prestigious Rajya Puraskar, while underscoring the significance of the organisation’s Foundation Day. He also emphasised that this special day serves as a reminder of the vision and foresight of the founders, who astutely recognised the immense potential of scouting and guiding in positively shaping the lives of the youth.
He also assured that government’s support and encouragement in further promoting the scouting and guiding movement in the State.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Secretary, D P Wahlang praised the scouts and guides for their hard work, perseverance, and determination in the completion of their Rajya Puraskar. He alsocongratulated all the mentors who have played a major role in motivating, inspiring and shaping the young Scouts and Guides in moving forward despite many challenges.
