Imphal, July 31: In a massive crackdown, security forces have arrested four individuals, including three militants from two proscribed outfits, across three districts in Manipur for alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Two active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) were apprehended on Tuesday from Nongada Awang Leikai in Imphal East district and Langthabal Kunja in Imphal West district. A 9 mm pistol with a magazine was recovered from one of them.

On Monday, a member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was arrested from the Haokip Veng area in Imphal East. In a separate operation, a 45-year-old man was taken into custody from his residence at Kairang Umang Mayai Leikai in Imphal East for his alleged role in criminal activities.

Since the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, security forces have stepped up counter-insurgency operations, dismantling militant camps and seizing large caches of arms and ammunition.
