Shillong, April 25: The Fire and Service department is on high alert as a massive forest fire was reported on Thursday, blazing through the forest of Lumparing-Malki up to the Motinagar area, which is under the Catchment Area. The fire is spreading rapidly due to strong winds.
Locals have joined forces with the fire services department to extinguish the raging fire, with multiple fire trucks dispatched to various areas of the forest.
However, the heavy winds have posed significant challenges to the fire service department in containing the fire before it spreads to other sections of the forest.
As of the time of filing this story, the fire service is still working tirelessly to completely extinguish the fire.
