Family of electrocution victims demands life time compensation, urges WGH DC to initiate necessary action

Tura, July 12: The villagers from Chenggapara, West Garo Hills, on Tuesday met Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills to demand life time compensation for those who are victims after bieng electrocuted in Chenggapara village .

This incident was happened on 9th July around 11:30 am in the morning and three peoples have got injured and one person was killed on the spot, who identified as Brain Marak from the same village ; Bostone M Sangma said.

Epsilla N Marak , who happened to be eight months pregnant, lost consciousness and fell to the floor from the sudden surge in electricity ,she has been admitted in Purakhasia Hospital for medical treatment, he added

The villagers have blamed the private power company, were that electrocuted, allegedly due to negligence by the power utility in maintaining the line that fields the Village electricity. Villagers had raised the matter of this wire with the department several times but nothing was done by the lineman or the authorities concerned; alleged Boston M Sangma.

The villagers from Chenggapara has F.I.R against MePDCL department to Purakhasia police station on 9July around 11am , due to negligence by the MePDCL department to maintain the Lt line and 11kb line has caused an electric shock over whole Chenggapara village, in West Garo Hills district.

In a statement issued to the media, the Chenggapara villagers demanded compensation to the family of the deceased and similar compensation to the civilians who sustained injuries in the incident.
