Shillong, Sep 5: The East Jaintia Hills Police on Tuesday nabbed one interstate drug trafficker and seized heroin worth Rs 2 Crore at Umtyra.
Following this, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma lauded L.R. Bishnoi andhis entire team.
The seizure and arrest was done after credible source information was received that one drug supplier travelling in a commercial Sumo B/R No MZ01 P 2566 coming from Mizoram was heading towards Shillong and is suspected of carrying illegal contraband.
Taking to X, he wrote, “We are fully committed to tackle this issue of exigent importance by fostering cooperation at various levels for the collective well-being of people across the state. Together, we shall triumph! ”
This comes two days after East Jaintia Hills Police nabbed one interstate drug trafficker and seized a staggering Rs 15 crore worth of crystal meth (10.16 kg), a potent and deadly drug.
Also, the East Khasi Hills Police arrested four interstate drug traffickers, including one woman, and seized heroin worth Rs 6 crore and one Maruti car.
Heroin is a highly addictive and illegal drug that is derived from morphine. It is often sold in powdered form and can be injected, smoked, or snorted.
However, the arrests of drug traffickers and the seizure of such large quantities of drugs highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the state.
