Shillong, March 2: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner R.M. Kurbah has issued an advisory urging residents to take precautionary measures to prevent potential damage or hazards.
The advisory, released on Sunday, recommends securing loose tiles, repairing doors and windows, and removing dead or weakened tree branches near homes.
Residents are also advised to inspect electrical wiring to reduce fire risks and to secure loose objects such as lumber piles, tin sheets, bricks, garbage cans, and signboards to prevent them from being displaced by strong winds.
In case of a fire, the advisory emphasizes staying calm and ensuring the safe evacuation of affected families. The Deputy Commissioner has urged the public to remain vigilant and follow these precautions to stay safe during the windy season.
