JOWAI, MAR 2: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Monday approved in principle the Amkoi–Shnongpdeng road at the Rongkusi festival, but said execution depends on landowners making land available.

At Amkoi Playground, Tynsong told the Dorbar Shnong the government would initiate necessary sanction and procedural steps for the road—seen as vital for farm‑market links and Ri‑War tourism—provided that local landowners cooperate.

He called infrastructure a shared responsibility that would benefit not only the present generation but also future generations.

Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Guest of Honour, echoed the appeal, noting school‑building approvals were ready but availability of land remains a crucial requirement.

He asked landowners to extend cooperation so that educational and other public infrastructure projects do not remain stalled.

Villagers submitted memorandums seeking the Amkoi–Shnongpdeng road, inclusion of Nongbareh Lyntiar–Amkoi under PWD, a football ground upgrade and a new LP school building.

Tynsong directed officials to coordinate with PWD on the Nongbareh Lyntiar–Amkoi stretch and highlighted subsidy support and incentives for youth in tourism and entrepreneurship.

The Dorbar Shnong welcomed the announcements as the festival affirmed cultural identity and, leaders said, marked a milestone for Amkoi’s development—contingent on community land cooperation.
