Shillong, June 25: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma engaged in a series of high-level meetings with several key Union Ministers in New Delhi on Monday to promote the state’s development.
The Chief Minister held discussions with different Union Ministers for the promotion of skill development, industrial growth, infrastructure, education, and technology.
Sangma first met Minister of State (MoS,) Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Choudhury and briefed him about the state’s ambitious plan to launch a skill park in Shillong and Tura.
Taking to X, Sangma said, “Had the privilege to call on MoS Sh. Jayant Choudhury to discuss on our government’s ambitious programme to start a skill park in Shillong and Tura to provide holistic skilling of our youth for smooth transition from academic to employment.”
Later, he held discussions with Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goel, and sought his continued support to advance industrial growth in Meghalaya.
Then, Sangma held a meeting with the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman and apprised her about the ongoing central projects in the state. Sangma sought financial support to fund the Meghalaya Economic Growth Accelerator (MEGA) corridor project during the current finance commission period.
Thereafter, the Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and sought funds for infrastructure development projects in the state. He urged Scindia to consider increasing the allocation of funds under the DONER.
Sangma also reached out to Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan and apprised him on the progress of education projects in Meghalaya and sought the minister’s continued support.
Finally, Sangma met Union Minister of Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw and updated him on various technology-enabled services that are in the pipeline in Meghalaya to promote data-driven governance.
These series of high-level meetings with Union Ministers were part of the NPP-led MDA government’s continuous endeavour to accelerate the developmental initiatives in the state with the assistance of the central government.
