Shillong, July 23: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday sanctioned a fresh batch of development projects under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF), extending financial assistance to schools, community organisations, sports clubs and local institutions across the state.

At a programme held at his official residence in Shillong, the Chief Minister distributed sanction letters for a range of grassroots initiatives aimed at improving education, sports infrastructure, public amenities and community services.

The approved projects include the construction of school buildings and additional classrooms, community and multipurpose halls, office buildings for local organisations, sanitation facilities, basketball courts, drinking water infrastructure, washing platforms, besides support for ambulance services, sports equipment and educational resources.

Among the beneficiaries were Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Dorbar Raid Mathan, Chibak Agalgittim Sports & Cultural Club, Laitnongrim Upper Primary School, Church of God (M&A), Sohryngkham, Rangthong Cultural Club and Sports Association, Reach Shillong Ministries, Mizo Women Welfare Society, Umpling Presbyterian Secondary School, St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, along with community representatives from different districts.

Addressing the gathering, Sangma said the CMSDF has become an important tool for addressing the immediate developmental needs of communities by supporting projects that directly improve people’s quality of life.

He said the government remains committed to ensuring balanced development across Meghalaya by funding locally identified priorities and urged beneficiaries to complete the sanctioned projects within the stipulated timeframe so that communities could benefit without delay.

The programme was attended by beneficiaries, community leaders, elected representatives and officials from various departments, who said the assistance would strengthen local institutions and improve essential public infrastructure across the state.
