Patharkhmah, Oct 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the newly constructed Jirang Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block Office—also designated as the Block Integrated Development Complex (BIDC)—at Patharkhmah in Jirang Constituency.

In a unique gesture celebrating local youth talent, the Chief Minister invited Under-20 Team India footballer and Meghalaya’s own sports icon, Ribansi Jamu, to perform the official honors of inaugurating the complex. The foundation stone for the BIDC had been laid by the Chief Minister a few years prior.

Highlighting the state government’s ongoing push toward administrative efficiency and grassroots governance, Chief Minister Sangma stated that Meghalaya is actively investing in modern block offices statewide. The initiative aims to enhance public access to government welfare schemes and streamline service delivery for citizens.

Focusing on regional infrastructure, the Chief Minister revealed that in Ri-Bhoi district alone, over 184 development projects with a total outlay exceeding ₹1,847 crore are currently being implemented. Furthermore, to ensure uniform administrative infrastructure across the district, the government has sanctioned ₹4.50 crore for a new C&RD Block Office in Mawhati.

Extending his gratitude to the residents of Jirang for their continued support, Chief Minister Sangma dedicated the new complex and ongoing regional developmental initiatives to the aspirations of the local populace.
