It may be mentioned that the government of Meghalaya has allotted Rs 34.5 crore for the renovations to the stadium. Constructed in the 1980s, the JN stadium is getting a major facelift after a span of more than 30 years.
With the ongoing renovation, the ground at the JN Stadium will return to a natural grass pitch in order to try and bring international-level football to the city. The artificial one at present has been in place for around 10 years.
Works are going on in good momentum & we are excited to work towards turning this vision to reality. Through this upgradation, Shillong will be able to host international & national events and we are hopeful to complete the works by this financial year.
