Tura, Jan 30: Attacking the TMC for promising financial aid after elections through their WE and MYE cards, Meghalaya CM and NPP Supremo Conrad K. Sangma on Monday said that people are coming to realise that this is nothing more than a false assurance.

Calling the TMC cards as “Baki or credit Cards” at a mega election rally in South Tura launching his election campaign on Monday, he said voters in Mukul Sangma’s very own constituency of Songsak and even Williamnagar have started to burn the WE cards after realising that there is no financial gain from it.

“During elections parties can promise many things to the voters, but we in the NPP are not in favour of such lies about promising financial aid after elections. For us, we ensure we provide the public what we assure before elections itself,” Sangma said.

He also highlighted the development in Tura town after many years. He said Tura town, which was deprived of development for so many years, has finally had a major facelift and developmental works have reached across localities. “Our aim now is to make Tura as one of the best model towns of the North East,” he assured.

He further informed, “Soon a state of the art convention centre with an auditorium will be coming up. We will have an integrated administrative complex, which will be a mini secretariat; (it) is going to come up in Tura. There will be a skill development centre and a youth counselling centre coming up soon and funds have already been earmarked.”

“A shining example of the progress underway is the P A Sangma sports complex that already has a completed football stadium and which will include an integrated indoor sports complex that will have a swimming pool, badminton, basketball and other sports events,” he said.
