SHILLONG, NOV 12: Congress has collected 10K plus signatures in Meghalaya as part of its campaign led by Rahul Gandhi against the alleged electoral malpractices.

“The Congress has started a signature campaign across the country with an aim to garner 5Crs Signature from the length and breadth of this country and all states have contributed. In Meghalaya too, we have collected 10K plus signatures across the state and is gaining momentum with many wanting to pledge their support via this campaign which will continue for the months to come,” Congress working president Deborah Marak told reporters on Wednesday.

“As any responsible citizen, we urge people to stay informed about this issue and engage in constructive discussions to ensure the integrity of our democratic institutions and process. Don’t let your silence usher in an autocratic era,” she added.

Marak said the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi has been tirelessly campaigning and raising one of the biggest issues that threatens our very democratic existence in this country,

This issue is raising concerns about the health of India’s democracy and the integrity of the electoral process. The widespread rigging and stealing of votes by the BJP across the country with damning evidence in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra.

“There widespread electoral malpractice, the BJP and the Election Commission are involved in “vote chori” to favour the ruling party,” she said.

Stating elections are the bedrock of our republic, Marak said, “When the very foundation is challenged by vote manipulation, the future of every citizen is jeopardized. Staying silent in the face of alleged authoritarianism and electoral theft only emboldens those who seek to undermine democratic institutions and plunder our national spirit.”
