Committee on Women’s Empowerment visits Jowai to discuss various issues

Jowai, August 22: The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment visited West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday (August 22) and convened a meeting with the relevant line departments to discuss various issues related to women in the district.

The meeting was headed by MLA Santa Mary Shylla, who was accompanied by other committee members, including Las Miani D Shira, Adelbert Nongrum, and Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah, in the conference hall of the Soil and Water Conservation Office, Mihmyntdu, Jowai.

The discussion focused primarily on the initiatives, schemes, assistance, and services undertaken by the various government departments with regard to the welfare of the women and children of the district. The various programmes conducted by the concerned line departments were examined in order to ascertain their effectiveness in promoting women’s empowerment and welfare.

Others present in the meeting were the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, B. S. Sohliya, IAS, Superintendent of Police, WJHs, and C. Syrti, MPS.
