Shillong, Oct 10: Alert BSF troops of 193 Bn in Meghalaya foiled the smuggling attempt and seized eyewear and footwear worth Rs 11 lakhs while being smuggled to Bangladesh from the international border of East Khasi Hills district.

The consignment was seized by vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya when the miscreants were trying to smuggle it into Bangladesh.

However, on being challenged by BSF, miscreants fled away from the spot by taking advantage of inclement weather and darkness. The seized items were handed over to customs office Danger for further action.

It must be noted that this seizure highlights the continuous efforts of the BSF to curb cross-border smuggling activities and maintain the security of the international border.
