BJP leader AL Hek denies report of Shangpliang joining NPP

Shillong, Aug 31: BJP leader and Cabinet Minister, AL Hek, on Thursday continued to deny the reports of former MLA HM Shangpliang planning to join the National People’s Party (NPP).

Hek said he met Shangpliang on Wednesday evening and there was no such discussion about his joining and that he has no information about the same.

Asked what was the status of the showcause notice that was going to be issued to Shangpliang, Hek said that it’s the party who will look into the matter.

On contesting the Lok Sabha Elections, he said they are yet to decide and that he doesn’t see any probable candidate since it would only be the national leaders to take the decision.

The cabinet minister also remained non-committal on whether he would be entering the fray of the Lok Sabha elections. He expressed that since BJP is a national party, they should contest both the parliamentary seats in the State – Shillong and Tura.
