Assam: One arrested with Rs 2 Crore Worth of Fake Currency Notes in Chapar

Dhubri, May 12: In a late-night operation in Chapar, Police arrested Sahinur Islam, a resident of Dhirghat, and seized fake currency notes worth approximately Rs 2 crore from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the Circle Police Officer, Chapar, and the officer-in-charge of Chapar police station conducted the raid at the house of the accused, Sahinur Islam, a resident of Dhirghat in Chapar in Dhubri district.

A Police official said Islam was planning to distribute the fake currency notes in exchange for a genuine 7 lakh INR.

Police are conducting raids in other places to arrest his other associates.

It is worth mentioning that many such fake currency rackets are active in the Dhubri district, which is located on the Bangladesh border. In addition to district police, the BSF has recently arrested many people involved in fake currency trading.
