Assam: 16-year-old student allegedly stabbed teacher to death in Sivsagar

Guwahati, July 07: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old student of a private school in Assam’s Sivsagar district allegedly stabbed his chemistry teacher to death inside the classroom on Saturday after being reprimanded over his poor academic performance.

According to reports, the incident took place while classes were on and the student attacked the teacher, Rajesh Babu with a sharp weapon.

“At around 3:15 pm, a student stabbed a teacher inside the classroom at the school. He was taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. We have detained the student,” a police officer said.

A student who witnessed the horrible incident told the media that the accused left the school and returned in casual attire. When he entered the classroom, the teacher initially asked him to leave politely, and when he turned a deaf ear, the teacher shouted at him.

Meanwhile, police have launched a probe into the incident.

“CCTV footage has been examined and necessary action will be taken as per law,” said a police official.
