Itanagar, June 20: In a major political development, the National People’s Party (NPP) on Thursday officially extended its support to the Pema Khandu government for the development of Arunachal Pradesh and to work as a team towards the state’s progress.

NPP state president and MLA, Thangwang Wangham, said, “Although the NPP is already part of the BJP under the NDA, today we officially submitted our letter of support to the Chief Minister.”

According to Wangham, the government’s priorities this year will focus on the social sector.

With this development, Congress MLA Kumar Waii remains the sole opposition member in the assembly.

NPP has 5 MLAs in the Arunachal Legislative Assembly. The party had contested in 20 seats in the April 19 Assembly polls, winning 5 seats.

The ruling BJP had contested in all the 60 seats and won 46 seats, 10 of which were unopposed.
