Shillong, Oct 14: Senior National People’s Party (NPP) leader and Cabinet Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday warned against regional politics being played within the state, saying such unhealthy divisions would hinder the state’s progress.
“We should not have sides and demarcations that are divisive in nature. Our state will not progress by dividing its citizens based on political preferences,” she said.
Lyngdoh was indirectly pointing at the Voice of People Party (VPP) being confined within the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region, especially during the MP elections.
“There was a very unfortunate scenario during the MP elections which was not very healthy for the state, with political parties isolating themselves regionally. We should not”, the Minister said.
