Shillong, Jan 8: Meghalaya Govt’s spokesperson Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday emphasised that the government remains committed towards pursuing peace talks with banned Khasi militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Dr Ampareen said there are certain “displeasures” and “misunderstanding” which are yet to be verified, but the government is committed towards the progress of the peace talks with HNLC and would like to see that there should be an amicable understanding.

He also expressed that the National People’s party (NPP) also wants the peace talks to continue.

It may be noted that the HNLC has withdrawn from the tripartite peace talks with the Centre and State government. It has demanded amnesty for all its leaders and cadres to resume the talks.
