Shillong, August 11: The Meghalaya Tourism Department has exempted beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Homestay Mission Scheme (CMMHMS) from obtaining building permission from the KHADC, GHADC, JHADC or MUDA for disbursal of loans sanctioned under the scheme.
An official order by Meghalaya Tourism Department, said the exemption was granted keeping in mind that the scheme targets unemployed local youth, rural residents and other beneficiaries who require government and formal institutional support to create livelihoods, employment and income generation.
The Tourism Department issued the order to facilitate implementation of the scheme, which is aimed at supporting local beneficiaries, particularly unemployed youth and rural residents, in creating livelihood and income-generation opportunities through homestays.
The order was issued by C.S. Khongwir, Joint Secretary to the Meghalaya government’s Tourism Department, and circulated to the Director of Tourism, all Deputy Commissioners, the Chairman of Meghalaya Rural Bank and tourist officers for information and necessary action.
