SHILLONG, JUL 27: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Sunday recovered the body of a Shnongpdeng resident who drowned in the Umngot River.
According to the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, the SDRF was alerted about the incident in the morning and immediately launched a search and rescue operation.
The team commenced operations at around 9.30 am using a Rescue Inflatable Boat (RIB) and barbed wire.
With valuable assistance from local residents, the personnel carried out an extensive search along the river.
The body was located and retrieved from the Umngot River at approximately 4.10 pm and brought ashore.
Following the recovery, the body was handed over to the police authorities for completion of legal formalities.
After the required procedures were completed, it was released to the bereaved family.
