Tura, May 24: The mortal remains of late Kresitha Gabil Momin, 41, who passed away in Dubai on May 21, arrived in Delhi this morning via an Air Arabia flight.
Hailing from Rongjeng in the East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, Kresitha was working as a violin teacher at the Arab Unity School LLC in Dubai.
She suffered a cardiac arrest on May 15 and was admitted to the Mirdif Private Hospital in Dubai for treatment. She passed away on May 21 due to renal failure, hyperkalemia, and metabolic acidosis.
Rongjeng MLA Jim Sangma shared that the grieving family had approached him for help, as no family member possessed a passport to travel to Dubai to complete the repatriation formalities. The MLA then reached out to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for high-level intervention.
The Chief Minister promptly instructed Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed and the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) staff to maintain constant communication with the family and ensure the mortal remains were brought back to her native place.
MLA Jim Sangma expressed his deep gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and the CMO officials for their swift coordination and facilitation. He also extended his appreciation to the Indian Embassy in Dubai for providing the necessary assistance, as well as to Issac Sadap, a resident of Meghalaya working in Dubai, who was authorized by the family to take charge of the mortal remains.
A brief prayer service was held at airport for the departed soul.
Following the service, the remains will be flown from Delhi to Guwahati, where the family will receive them and transport them to Rongjeng for the final rites.
