Shillong, Jan 30: The Meghalaya government has notified the schedule for the preparation of electoral rolls for all constituencies of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Councils (GHADC) ahead of the MDC Elections.
According to a notification issued by the District Council Affairs Department, the exercise will be carried out under Rule 129 of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, as amended. The process is being undertaken to facilitate the reconstitution of the District Councils upon the expiry of their present term.
As per the notified schedule, the draft electoral rolls will be published on February 4. Claims and objections may be filed until February 18, while disposal of claims and objections is scheduled for February 23. The final electoral rolls will be published on March 6.
