Guwahati, Sept 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday informed that the post-mortem of celebrated singer Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore.
In a post on X, Sarma said: “The post-mortem of our beloved Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore. His mortal remains are now being handed over to the accompanying team — Shekar Jothi Goswami, Sandeepan Garg, and Siddharth Sharma (Manager) — in the presence of officers from the Indian Embassy.”
Sarma further disclosed that an FIR has been registered at Morigaon police station against event curator Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager, Siddharth Sharma. “The Assam Police have registered the FIR and investigation will follow. Both Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma will be brought under the ambit of inquiry, along with those in Singapore who were with Zubeen until his last moments,” he said.
According to the Chief Minister, Singaporean authorities have already initiated their own probe into the incident. “Since the place of occurrence is outside India, the criminal aspect of the case will be dealt with under Singapore’s jurisdiction. However, if any conspiracy from Assam is uncovered, action will be taken here as well,” Sarma added.
He assured that the state government would ensure a fair and transparent inquiry. “The government will conduct an impartial investigation into the case. If anyone wishes to come forward as a witness, we will extend full support and make all necessary arrangements to facilitate the process,” Sarma stated.
