Guwahati, Aug 25: A gang of armed robbers stormed the residence and office of a wealthy businessman at 13 Mile, Jorabat, Assam on Sunday, making away with cash and gold worth several lakhs of rupees.
According to police, a group of around ten masked men entered the office of businessman Deepak Hazarika, who deals in bricks. The robbers held the office manager and a security guard at gunpoint, assaulted them and tied their hands and mouths before forcing open the cash locker.
The gang then proceeded to Hazarika’s residence, located just behind the office, where they overpowered family members present at home. They ransacked cupboards and looted gold ornaments and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Police teams from Jorabat rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the report, while officers from Sonapur Police Station also joined the investigation.
A case has been registered at Sonapur Police Station, but no arrests have been made so far.
