Shillong, Feb 28 : The body of a woman was found near Meghalaya Rural Bank, opposite the PWD Office in Barik, on Friday morning.
According to a police source, the incident was initially reported by one of her co-workers, and when he was taken in for questioning by the police, he later admitted that he murdered her.
The police source further informed that the incident happened in the wee hours of Friday around 3:00 AM; the two had a quarrel that escalated, leading him to strike her with a rod, which resulted in her death.
The victim, a 40-year-old woman, is a mother of two. Initially a resident of Lawsohtun, but had been staying at the restaurant where she worked.
The accused is now in police custody at Sardar Police Station for questioning.
The investigation is ongoing.
