Nongpoh, Jan 19: In a proactive effort to promote road safety and reduce traffic violations, the Ri-Bhoi Traffic Police on Sunday have launched a special drive bu distributing helmets to citizens in the lead-up to Republic Day.
The drive also includes round-the-clock checks to enforce critical safety measures such as the mandatory use of double helmets for two-wheeler riders and seat belts for occupants of light motor vehicles (LMVs).
The police has time and again emphasised the need for strict compliance, citing these measures as vital for reducing road accidents and fatalities in the region.
