Cricket: Meghalaya leave for Lucknow ahead of U-16 boys’ Vijay Merchant Trophy

Shillong, Dec 3: Meghalaya’s contingent of 15 players left for Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday for the first two matches of the U-16 boys’ Vijay Merchant Trophy 2024-25, a multi-day domestic tournament of the BCCI.

The Meghalaya Cricket Association’s junior men selection committee has made the selection and will review the performances of the team after the opening two games.

Meghalaya’s first match will be against Andhra Pradesh from December 6 to 8 and then against Hyderabad from December 11 to 13. Both matches will take place in Lucknow.

The boys have been involved in an intensive preparatory camp that was held both in Shillong and Nongkhrah (Ri-Bhoi) from November 17.

Meghalaya squad for first 2 matches: Mannan Surana, Trejosh Dey, Raunak Srivastava, Sameer Choudhary, Samelawan S Nongkseh, Krishiv Choudhary, Udit Pradhan, Trijal Agarwal, Aryan K Ray, Benhaden N Marak, Jakrasil Chuseng R Marak, Jamesbirth C Sangma, Damechua Khongsngi, Mewankitbok Kharpuri, Doangkam C Marak.

Standbys: Abhijit Chanda, Chukam Matsram D Shira, Eshan Siangshai, Gurjit Singh, Abagtha Marak.

Support staff: Sengam G Momin (Head Coach), Shankar Newar (Assistant Coach), Karma Sangma (Physio), Santosh Ram (Trainer), Robert Z Ralte (Manager).
