Tripura: CM Manik Saha orders termination of warden, caretaker after 20 students fall ill after consuming meal

Agartala, June 21: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha instructed the authorities to terminate the warden and caretaker of the hostel following the incident of 20 girls student falling ill at school after consuming the meal on Thursday.

On the other hand, a show cause notice was issued to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society, which manages the hostel.

As many as 20 female students experienced severe stomach ache after consuming a meal at their hostel, Maharaj Bir Bikram Welfare Society on Thursday in Agartala.

According to doctors, the condition of the students are stable and their and are finding the symptoms to determine the exact cause of their illness.

Initial investigations suggest that food poisoning in the students’ hostel might be the cause.

All the affected students are from the tribal community residing in a hostel at Indranagar on the outskirts of the city.

Doctors said that they are now examining their health condition and symptoms to determine the exact cause of their illness.

Taking to X (formerly twitter), Tripura chief minister Manik Saha said, “I have come to know about the incident of students of Bodhjung Girls School falling ill, and the government is taking the matter very seriously.”

“They were rushed to the hospital immediately. When I received the information, I directed the doctors to take all necessary measures. The incident is probably a case of food poisoning,” Saha said.

The CM added, “I have directed the officials to submit a report to me on the issue. All the students are stable now, and there is nothing to worry about. I have asked the doctors to provide the best possible care.”
