Eight police personnel fall ill after consuming wild mushroom in Dhemaji

Guwahati, May 12: Eight police personnel fell ill after consuming wild mushrooms in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Sunday.

Their symptoms included dysentery and vomiting, they were admitted at hospital, and after medical examination it was found that they were suffering from food poisoning after consuming wild mushrooms.

The personnel, belong to the 22nd battalion and where stationed at Panbari near Gogamukh along the inter-state border in Arunachal Pradesh. They reportedly consumed the mushrooms for lunch.

They have been identified as Siruz Mora, Pranjit Gayari, Dhanmoni Chetia, Adeshwar Dal, Sushaka Barkatki, Nitish Barman, Rup Kumar Changmai and Bhargav Barua.

The affected police personnel were admitted to Dhemaji Civil Hospital for further treatment.

According to doctor, their condition is stable and they are responding to the treatment.
