Outrage sparks as gang rape video goes viral: pressure group demands justice

Shillong, April 24: In a shocking turn of events, a video depicting a gruesome gang rape has surfaced on various social media platforms, sparking outrage and demands for justice. The incident, which occurred in East Khasi Hills, Shillong, involved a young female who was allegedly drugged and assaulted by four perpetrators.

The HYNÑIEWTREP Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) Student’s Wing has demanded action against both the perpetrators and for those circulating the video online. In a letter addressed to the SP East Khasi Hills, Iajanlang Sohtun and Naaman Khyriem, Chairman and General Secretary of HITO respectively, emphasized the urgent need for the strict legal measures to be taken against the offenders.

Expressing concern for the victim’s dignity and safety, HITO urged that the perpetrators be apprehended at the earliest and brought to justice as a deterrent to potential future crimes. The organization stressed on the importance of setting a precedent to deter such heinous acts and ensure the protection of individuals within the community.

The incident has reignited conversations surrounding the safety and security of women in the region, prompting calls for greater vigilance and decisive action from law enforcement agencies.
