Shillong, April 6: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the rampant misuse of the term ‘Jaitbynriew’, is assured to have detrimental impact on societal norms and values. Tynsong highlighted the alarming trend where ‘Jaitbynriew’ has seeped into everyday conversations, often associated with acts of violence and aggression.

Speaking on Friday, Tynsong expressed his dismay at how ‘Jaitbynriew’ has transcended its original meaning and has become synonymous with various forms of misconduct, including physical altercations and domestic violence. He underscored the urgent need to address this issue, emphasizing that the misuse of such words reflects a broader societal challenge that demands immediate attention.

The term ‘Jaitbynriew’, which holds cultural significance in Meghalaya, has been increasingly misappropriated, leading to its distortion and erosion of traditional values. Tynsong cautioned against the normalization of such behavior and urged citizens to uphold the sanctity of their cultural heritage.

Despite the challenges posed by the misuse of ‘Jaitbynriew’, Tynsong reiterated the commitment of the National People’s Party (NPP) to promote its authentic essence. He outlined plans to elevate ‘Jaitbynriew’ from its current state in Meghalaya to a national platform, emphasizing its potential to enrich India’s cultural landscape.
