MLCU and 1917iTEAMS, organise Farmers’ Market

Shillong, Mar 20: The department of School of Economics, Commerce, and Management, Martin Luther Christain University and 1917iTEAMS, Government of Meghalaya organised the Farmers’ Market Event on the theme “Harvesting Success: Farm-to-Market Management” on Wednesday at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.

The event brought together stakeholders from academia, government and farmers to deliberate on crucial issues facing the agricultural sector.

The event covered various discussions relating to govt schemes, opportunities and challenges in the agricultural sector. Students from different colleges and Universities participated in the event. In conclusion, the event brought to the fore the importance of the agricultural sector in income and employment generation for the youths.

Dr. Prosperous Nongsiej highlighted the objectives of the event. Gavin Shullai, Programme Manager, 1917iTEAMS, Government of Meghalaya, in the keynote address focused on empowering farmers.
Isawanda Laloo, IAS, Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, was present for the occasion emphasized the importance of integrating modern technology into agriculture while staying rooted in tradition.
