Guwahati, Mar 6: Assam police CID summoned opposition leader Debabrata Saikia on Wednesday for questioning in connection with a clash that took place during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Guwahati.

In the FIR, Congress leaders, and workers accused of route violation, damage to public property and attacking cops on duty have been accused of breaking police barricades near the Khanapara point in Guwahati in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders.

Speaking to media persons, Debabrata Saikia said, “I don’t know why they have called us, but we didn’t damage public property. We asked them for permission there were not enough police personnel deployed and the arrangements for a VIP visit were not enough.

So, to cover up their mismanagement they are calling us. I didn’t do anything against the law they are calling us for harassment,”.

On Monday, the Assam police issued summons to Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar and another party leader for questioning in connection with the case.
