Guwahati, Jan 3: In a devastating road incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Assam’s Golaghat district, twelve lives were lost, and approximately 30 individuals sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving a coal-laden truck and a bus, as reported by the police.
The tragic event unfolded at Balijan near Dergaon on Wednesday morning when a bus, carrying 45 passengers en route to Tinsukia Tilinga Temple from Kamarbandha in Golaghat, collided with the loaded goods vehicle, revealed Golaghat Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh.
The injured have been rushed to Jorhat Medical College for medical attention. The bus-truck collision took a particularly grim turn as the truck, loaded with bananas, also claimed the life of its driver.
