Agartala, September 3: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman died after her grandson attacked her with a machete.
The incident occurred Sunday morning in Santirbazar, in southern Tripura.
According to Shougat Chakma, SDPO Santirbazar, the victim, identified as Khukurani Das, was attacked by a sharp machete in her head and hand by her grandson Bijoy Das, and she died on the spot.
He added that the attacker, who reportedly has some mental illness at present, is in police custody.
The police came to the spot and found the victim’s body lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, and the machete used for attacking was lying next to the body.
