Meghalaya Govt to soon release Rs 52 cr for SSA teachers: Shangpliang

Shillong, Aug 29: Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Department, Himalaya Shangpliang on Tuesday said the MDA-2 government has taken various initiatives for the SSA teachers, and it will soon release Rs. 52 crores in capping salary for SSA teachers.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference cum felicitation programme of SSA teachers on Tuesday, Shangpliang said, “The capping norms which we were supposed to provide to the SSA teachers is in the process. The file has already moved from the department, and once the government releases it, we will be able to release Rs 52 crores for the SSA teachers.”

He said that apart from the Rs 52 crores, the government has also assured to release the pending installments (arrears) which were pending for years.

“The first arrears installment was released in June, the second installment has been released this month, and the process of giving salaries has already started,” he added.

He further assured that while the government is addressing all issues of the SSA teachers, the Education Department would like to see that the standard of education in all SSA schools improves in the days to come.
