Arunachal: Galo Youth organisation holds candlelight vigil to pay homage to Lt Tumi Doke Lendo in Likabali

Guwahati, July 22: The Galo Youth Organisation on Friday evening, in association with Lendo Ao Welfare Association (LAWA), organised a peaceful candlelight vigil to pay homage to the departed soul of Lt. Tumi Doke Lendo, who died on June 21, 2023 in a road accident.

The candlelight vigil was organised in Arunachal Pradesh’s Likabali area. Hundreds of people participated in the candlelight vigil.

Tumi Doke Lendo was the founder and first president of Lendo Ao Welfare Association (LAWA) in 1992.

Lendo, who was travelling in a car, died when his vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Lower Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on June 21. The accident occurred at a place 25 km from Likabali town, on the Likabali-Basar-Aalo road.

On June 23, 2023, Galo Welfare Society filed an FIR against Madhusudan Sharma, GM, NHIDCL but no step has been taken against him.

On the other hand, Galo Youth Organisation(GYO) has demanded action against M. Sharma.

“We demand 50 lakh to be compensated to the deceased family members and 25 lakh for injured Iga Nada for medical treatment within 15 days,” GYO stated.

The GYO also demanded for immediate dismantling of all the low quality structures by the working agencies from Akajan to Likabali-Bam road.
